Shows, Exhibitions etc.

Lausanne presents, in spite of its small size, an abundance of cultural possibilities. There are around twenty museums, more than a dozen theatres, more than a dozen cinemas, not to mention the art galleries, cultural centres etc.
From this vast choice, don’t pass by:

A theatre

The Arsenic, a theatre of multiple facets, offers an international and varied programme in the domains of theatre, dance, performance and installation. You will get a warm welcome. If you are lucky enough to attend the premiere of a show, you will be served supper by the director of the place.

Un cinema

The Cinéma Bellevaux. If you’re not a fan of multiplexes, if the noise of popcorn annoys you, if you are attracted to films by authors, if you like a personalised service (no film screening starts without the film being firstly introduced in a personalised way by the owner, his friend, or even his brother), then the Cinéma Bellevaux is for you.

A museum

The Musée de l’Elysée is entirely devoted to photography. In addition to an exceptional collection, it presents themed exhibitions and historical retrospectives which are always very intelligent. After visiting the place, the gardens offer you a magnificent environment for a small snack break or a siesta in the sun.

Also worth noting is the collection of art brut, the largest in Europe, following the inheritance of the private collection of the painter Dubuffet. On entering the rooms of this museum, the eye of the viewer is stimulated from all sides by work which are always surprising, often mind-blowing in their details and structures, whether they be works of spiritual mediums, works of insane people or outsiders.
